Founder and General Manager
Dr. Jyh-Yeuan Lo, a.k.a. Neil, is the founder and General Manager of Taiwan Yacht Training Center.
With the vision of promoting sailing and other seafarer activities, Dr Lo leads Taiwan Yacht Training Center to incorporate international resources to create an academy where aquatic activity aficionados can learn the art and knowledge of sailing, motor yachting, diving, marine mechanics, and vessel maintenance at recreational and professional levels.
Dr Lo simply loves the ocean. He is a rescue diver with EFR certificate. He takes part in training and reviewing lifeguards for Water Life Association of Taiwan. He coaches and referees with Taiwan Sailing Association. He has been accredited as ASA instructor in many levels since 2012. He is also a IYT coastal YachtMaster.
In 2018, with the dreams of taking more Taiwanese yachters to sail the seven seas, Dr. Lo dedicated himself with partners to setting up the first IYT school in Taiwan. Dr Lo believes that through the unique curriculum of IYT, Taiwanese sailors will be able to acquire well-tuned knowledge to advance from skipper level to YachtMaster.
When Dr Lo is not busy sailing, training sailors, or building marinas, he enjoys spending time with his beloved wife Jia Ling and their lovely teenage daughters. Sure enough Dr Lo would tell anyone with pride that all the girls in the family are promising sailors!
Sailing instructors
Thierry is the senior sailing instructor at Taiwan Yacht Training Center. Born in France by the Mediterranean sea and having lived near the ocean in Taiwan, California, New Zealand, Thailand and the Philippines, he has been diving and sailing most of his life. Thierry is passionate about the art of sailing and loves to share his passion with his students. Formerly working in Silicon Valley as a micro processor and firmware engineer, he knows the limits of electronic equipment on a boat and makes sure his Tamaya sextant is never too far.
He is a IYT MCA Master Of Yacht 200Gt Unlimited and a certified IYT instructor who can teach all recreational levels up to Ocean Yachtmaster. All courses can be taught in English and Mandarin. In addition he loves to teach celestial navigation and marine diesel engines.
When not busy with sailing, Thierry tries to grow his own food at home (slowly), plays chess (badly), scuba dives tries to understand Quantum Physics (help welcome) and more importantly helps his 3 children with homework.
Thomas is our competent crew and bareboat instructor. He is a IYT instructor with lots of sailing experience in Europe and Asia . A diving instructor for many years, Thomas is very patient with beginners. He speaks fluent mandarin and french in addition to english.
